Garden Cottage was built in 2005/6 as a self catering house.  We basically used a similar design to that which we used in Beadoun, but added extra facilities to take two extended families.  We got a farming grant for £37,391 which was quite hard earned, as we had an administrator in the Gov. dept who argued that we didn’t qualify, but the woodchip boiler won the argument.

The house has been extremely successful and fulfilled all of the five year grant qualifications.

It stayed as a self catering unit until we sold Beadoun and the tenants  moved in on a permeant basis.  Julien and Alison MacKenzie.  Julien was the music teacher at school.

Julien and alison moved out in May 2025 and Ric and Hanna Snowling moved in with their baby daughter Elsa
