155 Thorne Road was an upgrade from our house in Wheatley Hills. Four bedrooms, so that my dad could have an office. He was now chief mechanical engineer for Shell Mex and BP, an industrial arm of both companies. We moved there in 1964 and so I went to school sometimes on the bus or on my bike. I had a couple of really good paper rounds from here and so I was quite well off.
We had a workshop in the basement, where my dad buit locos and I built Boomerangs.
My parents moved away from here to retire to Bournemouth. Their first property was a flat.
