Dufties

St May's Church Epperstone
St May’s Church Epperstone
The Duftys mainly came from Doncaster, although back in history, the name originates from the dame Doughty.  The split came in 1698 in Nottingham (St Mary’s Church) of John Dufty and Joan Smith, both of Epperstone.   The name was misspelled, and all Duftys come from this name mistake.  The full history is on Dufty.net,
My Grandma’s maiden Name was Mary Elizabeth Dufty born in 1886.  Mary lived with her brother and sister at 6 Franklin Cres, Doncaster. This was because my grandfather Thomas Shores was killed in the first world war. Her brother was Joseph Henry, (Joe)born 1882 and Clara Edylin, born 1887.  Grandma had two other siblings,   Francis Pacy (Frank) born 1890 and Gertrude Lillian (Gerty)
Franci Pacy (Frank)  was the father of Jo Dufty, Which is Nigel and Karen’s Father
